Newcastle United striker, Papiss Cisse believes that the Magpies can carry their momentum over the remainder of their games this season, and can finish ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the league table.
The Tyneside team are currently level with the Spurs in terms of points, but the North London side are ahead of them in the table, on the virtue of a better goal difference.
The 26 year old believed that the Magpies can draw confidence from their splendid run in the league recently. Even though he admitted that his team will be the underdogs in the race to finish at the fourth spot, he mentioned that they will give it their
all to overhaul the fourth placed Spurs.
“We have only got five matches left, so we are going to take it match by match. But we have really got momentum behind us, so I still think we can do something really extraordinary.' He told Sky Sports.
The Senegalese footballer has made a huge impact at the Sports Direct Arena this season, since making his first appearance for the club in February. The maverick striker has scored ten goals in his last nine matches, and helped his side go on a run of five
straight wins in the Premier League in the last two months.
Newcastle beat Bolton 2-0 in their previous league game, which forced the Magpies boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew to concede that his side are now eyeing a Champions League berth next season.
Cisse underlined that it was important for his side not to get carried away with the thought of making it into the elite European competition, and emphasized that they need to take it one game at a time.
“We have got five matches left and we have to work really, really hard in the week so we are ready for the weekend, and then we will see if we can get there. We have only got five matches left, so we are going to take it match by match.” He added.
The striker scored the second goal in his side’s home win over the Trotters on Monday. During the game, his team mate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 scored an astonishing goal after making a stunning run from inside his own half. When asked to choose the better of the two
goals, Cisse replied, “'Hatem's. It was fabulous, it was a magnificent goal.”
Newcastle will next take on Stoke City at the Sports Direct Arena on 21st of April and will aim to extend their five match winning streak. Later on, they will play back to back matches against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City at the start of May.
