  1. King Charles II decided that it should be built.

    explains that Chalres built it so that if necessary,the guns could fire on the town itself,if the Parliamentarians caused trouble.

    It was built to protect the channel port.


  2. It was built for Charles to make sure the citizens behaved as 'loyal subjects'!!!!
