Hi, I would like to know if anyone has similar experience. My dad got a citation for missing plate. On the ticket, it has no due amount. We all asssumed, yes assumed, no responsibility, until one day they mailed us a fat letter asking for payment. How did you guys resolve the issue?

This is Department of Parking & Traffic of San Francisco by the way.

  1. Tickets just don't go away. Many jurisdictions don't print fine information on the ticket and require people to look up the information online or call a number. Even if it was an error and the fine should have been on there, your father still should have called.

I would resolve the situation by calling them and pleading not guilty if your dad feels he is innocent or find out the amount to mail in  if he feels he was guilty

  2. The ticket that you get when you're pulled over never has the amount on it.  It's just a notice that you're getting put into the system.

That letter that came in the mail is just notifying you of how much you owe on that ticket.  However, if you've solved the problem you may not have to pay anymore.  Either call or go into the offices and you can talk to a clerk about it.

As long as the vehicle was registered and you fix the problem you usually don't have to pay.

The best thing to do is to go in and try to figure out the problem with the city

    Good Luck!

  3. Just because the amount wsn't checked off or written in doesn't  mean you didnt' do it and don't have to pay. You ignored the ticket instead of calling the agency and finding out what the issue was.  Pay up.

  4. photocopy the ticket and send it back to them. they never asked for any money.
