hello everybody!!!

i moved to the usa almost 2 years ago

i did my senior year here, as well as my 1st year of comminity college (i'm finishing up now my second semester)

i pay out of state tuition cause i'm not a resident. Would i start now in the second year paying resident tuition cause i was here for two years or it doesn't matter?

well, i'm trying to finhish my education here but with all the expenses i don't think it is possible, and anything to do with legal, citizenship, immigration, etc is way too complicated.

does anybody have any ideas how do speed up the process?

thank you!!! :)

  1. Without the answers to the folloing questions, we can't answer you with any degree of accuracy:

    1) What is your current status in the United States, i.e. which visa are you currently here with? F-1 or a derivative visa?

    2) Which State do you reside in?

    3) Which college do you attend?

    Edit:

Which visa as just expired? The answer to this question is the most important.

However in the State of California, most foreign students admitted to the United States under a student (F-1) visa cannot establish residency for tuition purposes. The only exception is under the provisions of AB 540.

AB 540 was passed in 2001 by the California legisture which exempts certain categories of students from paying non-resident tuition. AB 540 states that the only way in which those certain categories of students can become eligble for resident tuition, is that they must have competed at least three years of high school and have graduated (or earned a high school equivalency) while living and attending school in California.
