Citizenship through marriage... how long?

Question

If i was to get married to someone so they can obtain a U.S. citizenship... what would i have to do? does he have to live in the U.S.? how long does he have to live here for? how long does the process take? and lets say it doesnt work out in the long run... when is the soonest that i can divorce him? and what happens to him when i do? how long does the entire process take... including everything...?

6 months to 1 year to obtain approval on a K1 fiance visa

Then conditional green card for two years

Next apply for condition to be lifted on green card.

Citizenship 3-5 years after receiving permanent green card.

If he leaves the US for more than 6 months before he is a citizen he loses the green card and starts over.

The process is made to discourage those that just want a quick green card and citizenship.

It requires the immigrant be serious about living and working in the US.

it takes from 6 to 12 months to get a fiance visa to bring him here,

once here, you must marry him in less than 90 days and then apply to get the permanent resident card.

then wait from 6 to 9 months to get an appointment and give prove that you are and have been together. then he will get a provisional residence card (2 yrs)

after that, you can apply to get the permanent residence card, and you have to prove that you have been together while those 2 yrs passed.

and then after 3 yrs he can become a us citizen

so if you added, it will take about 6 1/2  yrs before he can become a us citizen.
