Question:

Citronella oil safe during pregnancy?

I'm getting eating alive by mosquitoes at night just now (live in the Canaries). I bought some citronella oil because the woman in the herbal shop said it was okay during pregnancy. I used it last night and it worked wonders, not on myself, just a few drops around the bed. I've since read that citronella oil should be avoided in pregnancy but i think that's if you apply it to your skin....does anyone know if a few drops on the sheets should be avoided or is that okay? i'm 25 weeks pregnant. thanks :o)

  1. Have you googled it? Best way to find out.

Also, you should call your medical professional and he/she will be able to tell you if that type of exposure is okay or not for your baby.

  2. i am 33 weeks pregnant and just got home from camping for 4 days...i live in ontario, canada...by the way......we lit citronella sticks at night to keep the "skeeters" away...i am fine and my doctor said it was fine...so long as the citronella was not being put directly on me....so i would think that you are fine doing what you are doing....if still unsure, call your doc to put your mind at ease!!   all the best to you!!
