City Image likely to prevail in Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes
City Image is likely to claim the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) at Newmarket in England on Friday, July 13, 2012. She will have to outperform 11 other quality runners in the class-1 event to claim the prize money of
£34,026.
Due to the overnight rain, track conditions have become soft, which will not be easy to handle for some of the runners. However, most of the participants are capable of adapting to different situations, thus the competition will be an interesting one at
the end of the day.
Although most of the runners have got an impressive record, yet there are some who will enjoy the soft track more than anyone else. One of those challengers is City Image, who lacks experience, but is not short of confidence.
The two-year-old filly has participated in just a couple of events and her performances in them have been pretty much encouraging for her team. She has got an impressive speed, which will help her excel in the 6 furlong event today. Due to this, the punters
will definitely be risking some bets on her whereas the bookies have priced her 9 to 2.
The Richard Hannon’s trainee made her debut in June 2012 and caught the attention of everyone with a spectacular run. Her excellent speed allowed her to gain an advantage of one and a half length before crossing the finish line. This was no surprise at all,
as the bookmakers had rated her as the favourite to win back then.
However, things were a touch more difficult for City Image in her next race, where she was given pretty decent odds, but was not rated as the favourite. Despite that, she gave a spirited performance and caused an upset in the end, beating Sandreamer.
Things did not look good at the start of the race for the young filly, as she was held at the back. This was still not enough for her rivals to prevent her from taking the top spot, as she came back well towards the end, winning by one length and one quarter.
Her partner will be Ryan Moore, who will be accompanying her for the first time.
