Hello, I also recommend the market place, which is situated quite by the sea. From there you can take a boat to an old, historically interesting fortress Suomenlinna. The boat trip takes about 15 min. Absolutely worth a visit.

Near the market place is the street Pohjoisesplanadi, where the President palace is situated. Also near the market place is the Esplanadi park, a beautiful park where people have picnics on sunny summer days. If you get hungry while being in Esplanadi park, there is an old, interesting restaurant Kappeli, also worth a visit.

Some hundred metres from the market you can walk trough the old Helsinki quarters up to Senaatintori (market of the Senate), which is surrounded by Helsinki University, the Cathedral and House of the State, all old buildings. A "must" see place for tourists.

From there you can take a tram or walk to the Mannerheim street, where the Museum of the Modern Arts Kiasma is situated. Quite near the museum on the opposite side of the street is the House of Parliament and some hundred metres from there is the National Museum.

There are a lots to see in the centre of Helsinki, everything is not listed here. For further information you can visit the tourist office, which is quite near the market place. They can provide you with further information.

linnanmäki. its a theme park. thats my favorite place there. Also there is the tori, which is like a market place where people set up little posts in which they sell baked goods clothes, fruits and berries. if you are interested in museums then you can go to the national museum of finland which depicts finnish life from the beginning of finland to present.
