Manchester City’s chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak is rather happy with Carlos Tevez and feels that the club’s decision to keep a hold of the player really helped them out.
Last season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini and it seemed like his departure from the club was imminent.
Tevez refused to come off the bench in a game against Bayern Munich and as a result, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 claimed that the striker was finished at the club.
With the club not being able to find any team that was willing to pay the price that they placed on the striker’s head, they had no choice but to call him back to the Etihad Stadium.
Mubarak has now gone on to reveal that he is quote happy with the way the Tevez controversy turned out, as he took a massive gamble on keeping the player around.
He revealed that he was on the brink of letting him leave for AC Milan, but opted not to do so.
The City chairman is quoted to have said: "It was a landmark"
"We cannot allow ourselves, as a club, to be mucked around.”
"It was a h**l of a gamble for me, not to let him leave for AC Milan in January, because he could have sat out all year, but not played for us and lost his value.”
"But I was firm that we are not rich people to be taken advantage of, to give him what he wants and let the market s***w us."
At the moment, it is still not clear if Tevez is going to be staying at City, or if he is going to leave the club in the summers.
Having been a part of the Premier League winning side with the team last season, his plans to ditch the club are more than likely to have changed.
Nonetheless, should a team make a significant bid for the forward, then City could rethink about the striker and his future at the club, since no one is going to pay over the top for him in another year.
