  1. I drove an 08 Cobalt with the 2.2L engine from LA to Vegas in June and got 41.6 MPG. I did this by just driving the speed limit. On the way back, ignoring the speed limit, and going through Death Valley, with a 5000 foot climb in less than 20 miles, I still got 35.6 MPG from it.

I was very pleased with the performance.

  2. You can put a Car Seat (Rear or Forward Facing) in a Cobalt just fine. I know I did. Unless of course you picked a Coupe. (Of course you won't.)

That was just to put your question to rest. As to the cars themselves, the Cobalt is Re badged Cavalier. A nice sporty car with small foot print. Plus there's a employee pricing on Chevys.

Civics are nice too. I have nothing against them. But I tend to find the Dealers talking down to you from their high horses. Me personally won't take that.

  3. colbalt is faster i beleive. but id take th si too. just a more reliable and well built car

  4. Both are great cars performance wise the 2008 Cobalt SS Turbocharged is faster, handles better and brakes quicker than the SI. Also it has the same MPG of gas consumption. I own a 2006 Civic SI both if today were the day to buy a new car I would choose the Cobalt without thinking twice.

The only issue with the car seat is that in a Coupe is very difficult to work on that. A Sedan is the best choice in that situation is more comfortable.

But the are rumors that for the model of 2009 the Cobalt SS Turbocharger will come in a Sedan trim. If I were you I will wait a bit more and test drive both of them.

Then you can decide which one you really want.
