Hello! My husband and I have just gotten involved in Civil War Reenacting. We're part of the Oregon 9th Virginia Cavalry. And yep, I'm part Black! I'm hoping for some questions, direction and advice! 1st) I'd like to know of any groups, support groups, clubs etc. that may be in existence for African-American (Black) Reenactors. 2) Advice on Sutleries and Civil War era (replica) cast iron, cookbooks, canvas tents, etc. And 3) Perhaps meeting other families that are involved in the 9th Virgina (Cavalry or not) across the states to keep in contact with?

  3. Welcome aboard!!! Other black units include the 102USCT here in Michigan and of course the USNLP (U S Naval Landing Party) The Navy was integrated before the CW and at one time black sailors comprised almost 30% of the crews on blockade duty and the western rivers
