My sister's son, is coming to live with me for the next few years and I was wondering if there was a way to claim his as a dependent. Mostly, so that he could be eligible to attend a DODDS school when I get stationed overseas? Any ideas?

  1. You will have to have legal guardianship over him.  Talk to your command chain about calling DEERs and find out what paperwork you need to have.  They can be strict about it, but it's not impossible.

  2. With legal guardianship/custody, anythings possible. Make sure all the papers are in order and approved by the military first.
