  1. I don't think so. Usually they don;t want to have receipts for every item.

  2. not usually.  for some bigger items they may request one but adjusters understand most people do not keep every receipt for everything they own.  they will pay you on a actual cash value basis and once you provide receipts showing you actually replaced the items, they will pay the difference to the replacement value.

  3. i work in insurance claims in australia and not being able to provide receipts is a common problem.

unless the item is brand new, most people don't kept receipts for BUT, warrantys and manuals are normally stored away somewhere.

the insurer does have a right to ask you to substantiate your loss by asking for receipts for the item to prove it existed in the first place, but we are human and know that it's not always easy to do so.  warranties and manuals (and sometimes photos with the item in the shot) can help when the insurer is being persistent.

  4. I don't think you do. They can't expect you to keep reciepts for every item.

  5. It depends on your policy.  I had replacement value and had to provide receipts on items the insurance company found in contention.  That being said, electronics have been declining in value and you may receive less than you paid to replace the item with the same thing.  In my case, having the receipts increased the amount I received in settlement substantially.
