hi everyone, I've worked for a company for a year now and have recived my p60. I have been taxed even thou I am a student in the UK. How do I go about claiming my tax back? My emplyers have failed to do anything about it and are claiming that Ishould write to the local tax office.

I dont know who to write to yet alone find an address on Inland revs site. Or know what form to fill in.

If anyone can help that would be great.

Thankyou.

  1. if you look in the top right hand corner of your p60,it should tell you which office deals your claims.write to that office and ask them to look into it for you.good luck.

  2. Find the general enquiries number on the web site.and talk to the Inland Revenue. You will find that they are very help-full.

  3. Tax offices

Each employer has a tax office which holds the tax records for everyone who works for that employer. The tax office may be some distance from where you work.

The employer must give you the following information if you ask for it, as well as providing it on your P45 and P60:

the name and address of the tax office; and

    your tax reference number.

When you contact the tax office, you must quote your national insurance number and your employer’s tax reference number. The national insurance number and the tax reference number are given on forms P45 and P60 or you can ask the employer for these.

Most tax offices only deal with written or telephone enquiries and are not open to the public.

  4. find out from your company what tax office they deal with and ask for an address and telephone number and then ring them up and talk to someone about it itl be quicker

  5. You are not automatically exempt from tax, just because you are a student! Imput form P60 details in www.listentotaxman to see if you are due a refund.

Form P60 should show tax office involved. Or you can ask employer/payroll. You can even send your form P60 and claim to any tax office. Provided your National Insurance number is clearly shown, your correspondence will be sent on to the right office..
