  1. What province do you live in?  Impossible to calculate without knowing that, each province had different tax rates.

    90 hrs a week?  WOW!

  2. If you go to CRA's website you can use the payroll deductions online calculator (PDOC). It is really easy to use.

You indicate which period your pay is for (the tax tables change twice a year), there is a drop down list to choose which period your pay relates to. You also use the drop down to select which province or territory of employment. Then how many pay periods per year.

Once you've done that, there are two buttons at the bottom, one says salary/bonus/retroactive pay/pension calculation, the other says commission calculation. Select which ever is applicable.

You will go to another page once you've selected the applicable button. If you've selected salary/bonus/retroactive pay/pension calculation (which this sounds like), you will that there are two more buttons to choose from. One is determine gross income, the other is determine taxable income. Select the first one (determine gross income).

Beside income type select salary or wages from the drop down. Next to that there is a space for you to indicate what you made for that period before taxes ($20 x 180 = 3600). Once you've put 3600.00 in that field, if noting else apply, then you select "OK".

The next page you come to will have a lot of fields. This is where you tell the calculator how much CPP and EI you have contributed to date. If you are unsure, if you have your pay stubs, it will show you much you've contributed to date.

You then select your claim code from the drop down list. Most people are claim code 1.If you are unsure just select claim code 1.

If you did not get a bonus or retroactive pay, you don't have to enter anything into those fields.

That is pretty much it for this page unless you've requested additional tax deductions to be deducted from your pay, if so enter the amount.

Once you are done with this page click calculate and the next page will show you all of the information you indicated about this pay period. It will show you the gross amount ($3600.00). It will then list all your deductions (CPP, EI, and your federal and provincial income tax). Then it will show you your net income (income after all deductions).

You can print it, or save it. But it gives you a really good idea of what your net income will be.

I know this is a long explanation, I worked at CRA for quite a while so I know all about this calculator. If you have any questions while you are going through it, just give them a call on the next business day, they should go through it with you.

  3. 180 hours for 2 weeks, but no overtime paid?  Something is seriously wrong here.
