Claires Pride is the pride of the track in A6 race at Kinsley
It can sometimes take a long time for a racing greyhound to emerge as a frontrunner to win a race. Several elements like past results, health, training, and the dog’s overall record are
important in the creation of a future champion. But there are often times when a champion can emerge in an instant, becoming the pride of the track in under 30 seconds.
Claires Pride best embodies the role of instant champion, as the 9-4 favourite emerged victorious in a 462m A6 race at Kinsley Greyhound Stadium in West Yorkshire today. An early pace
from trap three resulted in a lead at the halfway mark, which Claires Pride rode to win the race in 29.65.
Finishing a shoulder’s length behind her was Boy Blue (4-1), who matched the winner’s time of 29.65. Hold On Betty, the 11-4 long shot, held on to take third place in 29.67. She was a
head behind the second-place finisher to close out the top three positions.
Eske Flyer (4-1) had some trouble getting off of the ground today, which resulted in a fourth-place finish. He ran to a 29.71 finish, missing the top three by only a ½ length. A clear
run from trap four was not enough for Dillons Lad (4-1), whose 29.81 finish place him fifth. He was 1¼ lengths behind Eske Flyer. Finishing in the number six spot was Maglass Class (6-1), who was 2¼ lengths behind fifth place with a time of 29.99.
An A5 race was next on the card, with Knysa Stevie (7-2) picking up the win. A strong start from trap six allowed him to move quickly away from the rest of the pack. He never let go of
the lead in this race, resulting in a great 29.26 finish. Walworth Ryan, the 5-2 favourite, finished a single length behind Knysa Stevie with a time of 29.34.
Third place went to Kidmans Choice (4-1), who crowded second on the way to a 29.62 finish. He was 3 ½ lengths out of second place. A forced check in the run up led Droumeraghemilie (4-1)
to the fifth position, finishing the race 1½ lengths behind third place in 29.74.
Highview Roger (5-1) checked in with a time of 29.82 that gave him fifth place. He was one length behind the fourth-place racer. Last place was claimed by Scotch Mist (3-1), who was forced
to check third, losing 2¼ lengths in the process. She went on to complete the race in 30.00.
Will Claires Pride continue her winning streak and retain her title as the pride of the track? Find out on Friday 24 September, when the 462m races at Kinsley Greyhound Stadium resume.
The first race of the evening gets under way at 19:35.
