Clancy Strand dominant in the Bingo Handicap Chase
The Bingo Handicap Chase has attracted nine contestants who are four-year-old and above for the two mile, two furlong and 110 yard challenge on 14th November, 2012 at Downpatrick. The prize money for the race is €5,520. Majority of the entries
have failed the last time that they raced and are giving their luck a shot through the race today.
One of the contestants leading by 2 to 1 chances for the test today is the seven-year-old bay gelding, Clancy Strand. He has been active six times during the season, and has struggled for form during the last three outings.
The only time the bag gelding from New Zealand won a race was in the www.naasracecourse.com Handicap Hurdle on 6th August, 2012 at Naas over two miles. He was paired up with jockey, Niall P. Madden, the duo defeated Rare Symphony by seven lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position was, Ionisphere.
Montjeu’s bay gelding then gave a shot to the Roscommon Handicap Hurdle on 20th August, 2012 at Roscommon race course over two miles. The favourite entry ended third while paired up with the same jockey as was in the previous race.
The race was won by, Khan Tengri, who set City Line as the runner-up after leading by seven lengths.
The most recent that the Niall Madden trained raced was in the O’Leary Insurances Handicap Hurdle on 11th September, 2012 at the Galway race course over two miles and two furlongs.
Clancy Strand suffered the hardest hit as he ended ninth in the field of thirteen. The seven-year-old out of, Bye Bye Affair, was accompanied by the regular jockey.
The race was won by, Golden Kite, who had Mr. D. L. Queally onboard and won over Gergie, by the mark of 1 ¼ lengths.
Clancy Strand will be paired up with the regular jockey, and will need to look out for the six-year-old bay mare, Breffni Gael, who has a success in the last three outings out of which in two she was pulled up.
She bagged the prize money of the 5&6YO Mares Maiden on 7th October, 2012 at Castletown-geoghegan over three miles.
