Timmer had been heading the committee successfully since 2005. She struggled a lot to perk up the standard of women cricket around the globe. Under her headship, women cricket has achieved many landmarks.
It was Timmer who maneuvered to hold the first ever joint ICC’s men and women World T20 in 2009. Her six-year tenure with the committee is regarded as a hallmark for the game of the fair s*x.
Now, Connor has adorned Timmer’s boots to work for the development and improvement of the game.
Connor is also heading the Women’s Cricket wing of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and Wales Cricket Board. Commenting on her new role, she said, “First of all I would like to thank Betty Timmer for her hard work and enthusiasm. Betty has worked tirelessly for many years to help
promote women’s cricket globally through the ICC Women's Committee.”
She further added, “I’m delighted to be taking over as chairwoman of the committee at such an exciting time for the women's game and immediately after the launch of the new http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Strategic Plan in which the women's game has real focus. I believe this role
will complement my position on the ICC Cricket Committee and also as Head of Women’s Cricket at the ECB.”
Connor aims at utilising her practical experience of cricket to perform her new responsibility with success. She is determined to run the committee in a constructive and beneficial way.
The former English player has the honour to have led England Women and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Denmark-c2884 Women, on July 19, 1995. She went on to play her maiden Test against
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Women later on, in the same year.
Having played 16 Tests, 93 ODIs and 2 T20Is, Connor announced her retirement from International cricket in 2005. She was a right-handed batswoman who had 502 Test and 1087 ODI runs to her name. However, she did not have any International hundred.
