Clarification on microwave

Sharp SN R-510HKF M# 428742 Made in 2005, purchased in 2006The microwave inside light comes on when you punch in the time and power desired and hit start; but the carousel does not turn and there is no noise or cooking. Myhusband fiddled with the door latch and it did respond for a shortmoment; otherwise it has not worked; all the panel lights work all thetime, timer, etc..
