Clarify the Ruling of Mind Crush's Effect

Effect: Declare 1 card name. If your opponent has the declared card(s) in their hand, discard all of the declared card(s) to the Graveyard. Otherwise, you randomly discard 1 card.

Ruling: If the opponent doesn't have the named card, you can check their hand to confirm.(from http://www.upperdeck.be/yugioh/en/gameplay/faqs/cardfaqs/default.aspx)

What if my opponent has multiple copies of the card I declared but only discarded one? I will not be able to check their hands to confirm.

Situation:

Turn Player: activates Mind Crush, declares Jinzo

Opponent: (has three Jinzos in their hand) discards 1 Jinzo

The Turn Player would NOT be able to check his opponent's hand to make sure he discarded ALL the Jinzos because the effect says the Turn Player can ONLY confirm if the opponent does not have ANY of the declared card (Jinzo).

So the opponent would be able to cheat, yet cannot be found out. Can someone help me figure out a solution or is this how Mind Crush suppose to work, on honesty?

  1. i dont know how 2 answer that soz its hard

  2. you real don't trust other players that much? be grateful that somebody's dueling you. what are the chances anyway?

I think it really doesn't matter that much, unless you are at regional or national, in which case some other people would be watching you play so the other guy probably can't cheat.

also, just put trapdust and ccv in that deck too, that way, wait for one of the other two and use them together, to make sure they don't cheat.

  3. whenever u activate "mind crush", they could technically cheat like that (if they dont care about ethics)

however, if u know they have the card or if they play it soon afterwards, u would know that they had cheated, so u could still catch him
