West Brom manager Steve Clarke was delighted after last night’s controversial 1-2 win over Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 at Loftus Road and insists that his team fully deserved to win the game.
The Scot was reluctant to debate on the contentious refereeing decisions which gave his side the 3 points, but insisted that his team fully deserved to win the game and was happy to have secured 2 successive wins in the league.
The win takes West Brom to 6th spot on the league table, level on points with Tottenham Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043. After having suffered 4 successive games without a win, West Brom have now managed 2 back-to-back victories.
The game ended in controversy as West Brom got their second goal and the winner. Striker Marc-Antoine Fortune was thought to have impeded QPR goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 Green for the winner, and this left QPR manager Harry Redknapp furious.
The former Spurs boss was fuming after the game, and voiced his thoughts in his post-match conference, and slammed the officiating on the night.
Steve Clarke was asked to give his view on the incident, but the Baggies boss refused to say much, and insisted that Green had not been fouled by Fortune. He said:
“Marc didn’t do a lot wrong, he stood his ground and Rob didn’t get around him, made a mistake and it was a goal to us.”
“I don’t think that should deflect away from the gulf there was between the two teams at stages during the game. The first half was quite even, but we looked like the team playing with confidence and QPR are the team that is struggling. We passed the ball
well and had more chances.”
There had been another controversial moment in the game when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Foy however did not award a penalty to the hosts, which further infuriated Harry Redknapp. Clarke added:
“I don’t want to talk about controversial decision. I want to talk about how good my team is and how well we have done at the half stage of the season."
West Brom next travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on the weekend, who are fresh from last night's thrilling 4-3 victory over Newcastle United.
