Clarke admits that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 is knocking at the doors of the Test team – Cricket News Update
Impressed by Mitchell Starc’s progress in limited-over internationals as well as at the first-class level, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, the Aussie skipper, has admitted that the left-arm fast bowler is knocking at the doors of the Test team once again.
The national selectors announced the New South Welshman in the 12-man squad for the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822.
Apart from Pattinson, none of the Aussie bowlers was able to make a huge impression in the first Test but the team management has shown faith in their abilities, announcing an unchanged playing-11 for the second Test, which commences from tomorrow at the Adelaide Oval.
Starc impressed one and all in the limited-over series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and also during the Champions League T20 2012 in South Africa. On top of that, the lanky speedster has been showing immaculate control in the on-going Sheffield Shield season.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 is extremely impressed by the emerging fast bowler but does not want to tinker with the team combination during an all-important series.
“There was certainly talk about Starcy coming into the XI, he's performed really well for NSW, he's been bowling beautifully in the shorter form of the game and in the nets as well,” said Clarke. “I just think we feel at the moment our attack improved as the game went on in Brisbane.”
The Aussie skipper believes that his bowlers were not on top of their game on day one of the Brisbane Test but improved gradually and did well in the second innings, which is a good omen for the Baggy Greens.
The South African bowlers also struggled to deliver the goods at Brisbane as the pitch was heavily in favour of the batsmen.
“There were a few nerves in on day one and it was our first game together as a team for quite a while, so I think everyone will be better for that,” he expressed. “We took 14 of the South African wickets and they only took five of ours.”
