West Brom may face a winter transfer window fight to keep hold of Chelsea’s on-loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 for an extended stay at the Hawthorns.
Baggies manager Steve Clarke is preparing to secure the Belgian’s services for the entire season, as reports claim that Chelsea may call back their player in the January transfer window.
The striker failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge last season, but has been impressive ever since he made the loan move to the Hawthorns. The player is set to start tonight as West Brom host the struggling Southampton in the Premier League.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo then sent the player out on loan to help him get more games and develop and
adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.
However, there is a clause in Lukaku’s contract that states http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 can call him back in the winter transfer window should they see fit. Considering the lack of strike options up front, the Blues may very well do so come January.
However, Steve Clarke is determined to hold on to the striker, and believes that his development will be better off if he remains at the Hawthorns for the entire 2012-2013 season. Speaking to reporters, the manager said:
“I haven’t spoken to Chelsea about what might happen, but I speak to Lukaku and I know he’s happy. He’s in a better place now because he’s played matches in the Premier League and he’s been a handful, he’s shown everybody that he’s a big talent and one for
the future.”
“Lukaku is young, he’s raw, he’s got to learn how to develop, he works great on the training ground, he wants to be better.”
West Brom made their best start to the Premier League this season, managing victories against the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019. The club also enjoyed its best home form, and kept a number of clean sheets up until the defeat against English champions Manchester
City last week.
Lately, the Baggies have seen a dip in form, losing two successive games in the Premier League. Manager Steve Clarke has challenged his team to bounce back by managing a victory against Southampton tonight as he looks to recover the club’s form.
