After the 2nd match of the 3-Test series between Australia and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 has set his sights on the 3rd and final fixture and is determined to continue leading from the front, taking any necessary
measures to ensure victory.
“My goal my whole career has been to help the Australian team win as many games as possible, and I guess now that I am captain, I have the opportunity to show that,” said Clarke.
The Australian tour of the Caribbean has proved disappointing for the visitors so far, with frustrating draws in both the ODIs and T20 competitions. The on-going Test series is the last chance the Aussies have of making a mark in the West Indies, in addition
to raising their Test team ranking.
The first Test match was closely contested between both the sides, but a timely and bold declaration by skipper Clarke paved way for an Australian victory. While the Windies had totaled 449 in their first innings, Clarke decided to declare at 406, only to
dismiss the opposition for 148 in their second outing before going out to chase the 192-run target successfully.
Clarke’s decision was hailed in hind-sight by teammates and critics alike, and the skipper took a similar chance yet again, in the 2nd clash of the series. The Australians managed 311 in their first innings before dismissing the Windies on 257. In their
second outing, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 chose to declare at 160 for 8 down, leaving their Caribbean hosts 215 to chase, before rain spoiled the game at 53 for 2, forcing a draw.
"At times with my declaration, when there is a chance for winning, you've got to have a go at it. There're going to be times that it might backfire and we might lose. But I enjoy the brand of cricket that we're playing at the moment. I know the guys are
really focused on the team having success and trying to win as many games as we can. And I think it's bringing the best out of the team," claimed the Aussie skipper while commenting on his decisions to declare.
The 3rd and final Test between the two sides is scheduled to begin on April 23 at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, and with the Aussies running into some problems owing to the injury-induced departure of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197, it remains
to be seen whether Clarke will be able to bring luck for his side.
