West Brom manager Steve Clarke labelled the 0-1 defeat against Stoke City as unfortunate as the Baggies suffered their second successive defeat in the Premier League.
The club has been in tremendous form since the league started, managing wins over the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. This marks West Brom’s best start to a Premier League campaign, and they currently sit at 5th spot, tied to Tottenham
and Chelsea with 26 points to their name.
The club had been on a winning streak of 4 games up until the 3-1 defeat at Liberty Stadium against Swansea City. Having been the second best team the whole night, West Brom would’ve been looking to bounce back in Saturday’s home game against Stoke City.
The Potters had other plans, and continue to be West Brom’s bogey team as they managed a narrow 0-1 win over the home side. The game had very few talking points and there was nothing special about it.
Manager Steve Clarke had made six changes to the team which had lost against Swansea City, but his plan backfired as his team failed to create any real chances against a tough and disciplined Stoke side.
The Scotsman believes that both sides had cancelled each other out, and insisted that his team were unfortunate to have lost against the visitors. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“To be honest it was the kind of game we thought it might be. The two teams really cancelled each other out and it was a game of very, very few chances. We spoke before it was probably a game of one chance. We spoke again at half-time it was probably a game
of once chance and unfortunately it fell to Stoke.”
Veteran midfielder Zoltan Gera was also disappointed with the defeat, but insists on making amends for it. The Hungarian insists that his teammates will respond in a way similar to the one where they bounce back after two successive defeats against Manchester
City and Newcastle United and managed a 4-game winning run. The player said:
“We’re disappointed as we lost on Saturday but we have a chance to pick up points in our next game. We have to end this run and we have to pick up points and I’m sure we will.”
