Australia’s ODI skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, at Sharjah, UAE, on Tuesday.
After being dismissed for just 198 in 45.1 overs, courtesy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-c76390 Starc’s five-wicket haul, the Pakistan bowlers kept the opposition batsmen under check and had Australia struggling at 67 for 4 in 18 overs, before George Bailey came to the crease, to partner
with skipper Michael Clarke. The 29-year-old Tasmanian batsman played a meticulous half century knock, sharing a 54-run stand with skipper, and stayed at the crease till the winning runs were scored on the second ball of the penultimate over.
"The most pleasing thing was that George was there at the end,” said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 middle order batsman, who led the Australian chase with a calculated 66-run knock. “These days in one-day cricket, a lot is spoken about your strike-rate. George wasn't
concerned about how many balls he was facing,” he added furher.
Pakistan skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 also hailed Bailey for playing responsible cricket.
"The way Bailey and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c60189 batted, it showed maturity although they were playing [their] third or fourth match," Misbah said on Thursday.
Bailey is the captain of Australia’s T20 team, and will be leading the side in the esteemed World T20 tournament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next month. Clarke said that Bailey’s current form was a really positive sign for the team in lead up to the mega event.
“I know he's looking forward to hopefully winning that World Cup,” said Clarke, who had retired from the shortest format of International cricket in January last year.
"It's a really positive sign for the T20 team that the captain is in really good form leading up to that tournament," he added further.
