West Brom manager Steve Clarke insists that he is more than content with the away point his side earned in the 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
West Brom were looking to keep their momentum running following a narrow 1-0 Premier League win at home to Reading and then their disappointing Capital One Cup exit. The Baggies, still sitting quite comfortably in the top 6, are considered the surprise packaged
this season, and have so far not disappointed.
This weekend’s trip to Villa Park ended in a 1-1 draw, where West Brom had been leading the game for quite some time before Darren Bent equalized in the dying minutes.
Shane Long had given West Brom the lead shortly after the second half resumed. Villa, fresh from a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Southampton needed a quick response, and equalized through second half substitute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358.
Villa had recorded a surprise victory in the Capital One Cup against reigning English champions Manchester City, and needed a result in the league to keep their momentum running.
The result leaves West Brom tied for the fifth spot with Tottenham, with both teams having managed 11 points from 6 games. Manager Steve Clarke was content with the away point and delighted to have kept their domestic form going.
Speaking to the press, he said:
"I think it's a good result. We came here expecting a difficult game and that's what we got. We're disappointed because we went ahead in the second half and controlled the game for a good spell.”
"We then created a few half-chances for the second goal but we were pegged back and it finished 1-1. The players are disappointed in the dressing room because we didn't get the three points.”
"Overall I think we have to be happy with our efforts because, having been disrupted a little bit with injuries; the team performance was really good."

the game at Villa Park.
