West Brom manager Steve Clarke insists that patience was the key factor as the Baggies managed their third successive home win of the season.
West Brom have enjoyed a flying start to their Premier League campaign, starting it off with a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies then followed it up with an impressive away draw against Tottenham, coming back to level the game in stoppage time. Next up were Everton at home and West Brom cruised to a 2-0 victory.
The club was on an undefeated streak up until a trip to Craven Cottage. West Brom suffered a 2-0 defeat and saw an end to their streak. The team was dismal, and Peter Odemwingie’s sending off did not help their cause.
Clarke was however confident that his side would bounce back from the defeat, and that they did. West Brom won their third home game against Reading in a 1-0 score line, continuing their impressive home form.
Steve Clarke said that patience from the home fans was instrumental in their win, and thanked them for the wonderful support and atmosphere.
The game against Reading was a different kind of test, with the Royals in form. Reading proved to be a stern challenge, but West Brom ultimately grabbed a win.
Chelsea’s on-loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 scored the only goal of the game as he helped his side seal all three points. Clarke was full of praise for the Belgian and thanked the home crowd for their patience and support.
“In the two home performances previous to Saturday – 3-0 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 – the game changed quite late on in both of them,” said Clarke.
“The fans know it takes an hour, maybe 65 or 75 minutes, for the chances to come to win a match and I thought they were really good. They stuck with us.”
“They were obviously getting nervous, as everyone was, but they stuck with us and got their reward.”
The manager then went on to praise Lukaku and the impact he has had at the club so far. Clarke tipped the player to make a name for himself at the club and establish himself at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 once his loan spell comes to an end. The manager added:
“He did well on Saturday against two strong centre-backs.”
