West Brom manager Steve Clarke insists that he is happy with the squad and will not be planning to buy in the January transfer window.
West Brom have enjoyed their greatest start to the Premier League under Clarke’s stewardship. This marks the Scot’s first senior managerial endeavour and the manager has impressed with what he has done so far.
Clarke signed a number of players in the summer which gives him a wide host of options. The likes of Markus Rosenberg, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-Popov-c15165 and Yassine El-Ghanassy all arrived at the Hawthorns in a multitude of permanent and season-long
deals.
The Baggies’ have so far managed victories over the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 with 26 points to their name.
With the winter transfer window coming up, transfer speculation has once again picked up heat, with many players rumoured to be on their way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Steve Clarke however insists that he will not be signing anyone next month and is perfectly happy with
his squad.
The manager is also aware that several of his star players have been linked with a move away from the Hawthorns, but says that it does not concern him. Clarke is confident of holding on to his star players as West Brom eye a top 4 finish this season.
Star striker Shane Long, who has been in fine form this season and is the club’s highest scorer, has been linked with a move away from the club, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 the most likely destination. However, Clarke insists the player is going nowhere.
Speaking to reporters, he dismissed all transfer speculation and said:
“I haven’t got any thoughts on January. There is too much idle speculation at this time of the year. People are allowed to link one player or this player with the club and it just goes around in a circle. If I give credence to every story that comes up,
we would be here talking all day. As far as I’m concerned, January will take care of itself.”
“I’m happy with the squad I’ve got. I’ll have this squad in January. I might lose one or two to the African Cup of Nations, but I’m happy.”
