West Brom manager Steve Clarke was delighted by his players after the 2-0 victory over Southampton last night at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies have now bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a win over Southampton last night, and look set to maintain their flying start to the Premier League.
The club has made its best start to a season in over 29 years after moving up to fifth place, tied on points with Tottenham Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019.
Steve Clarke has been a revelation for West Brom ever since he took over after Roy Hodgson, and the team has been the surprise package of the season so far. This is the Scot’s first senior managerial role, and he believes that his players deserve the credit
for West Brom’s success this campaign.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Like I say, it’s been a good start, but it’s not for me to take any credit. The players I have selected have been fantastic; they have approached every game with the right attitude and got their reward.”
The manager refused to set any targets, and remains realistic about the club’s prospects. He added:
“I think we’ve said from the start we focus on the primary objective which is to make sure that Albion are in the Premier League next year. That is always the first target and we are on the way to that. We’ve given ourselves a real good start and we have
to build on that.”
Two goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 ensured the three points for West Brom on the night. The manager was delighted by his side’s response after 2 back-to-back defeats in the league, with the first one coming at home.
Odemwingie was also very pleased after he led his team to victory, and looks set to have made a strong case to be selected in the starting line-up.
The 31-year old Nigerian forward has missed some games due to his suspension, but is now back as he looks to replicate last term’s form. Steve Clarke was pleased with his player’s performance, and is glad to have him in the team.
After a summer of speculation, Odemwingie committed his future to the club, and West Brom are reaping the rewards.
