http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 still uncertain about playing XI for upcoming Test against Windies – Cricket News Update
Ahead of the first Test of the 3-match series on Australia’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 is unsure of the bowling contingent he would like to take into battle. The Test series is crucial for the Kangaroos, as both the limited overs
clashes were drawn, much to their frustration.
Clarke, who was out of the initial matches due to an injury, returned for the warm-up game against West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI, contributing 30 in the first innings and 4 in the second, as the Australians eventually won the 3-day match by 8
wickets.
Before the tour game, Clarke claimed that he would pick the best lot on the basis of their performances in the warm-up match, and went on to refute the idea of deploying four pacers.
However, after the conclusion of the tour game, Clarke has admitted he is in a dilemma as to the selection of the bowling attack.
“Going from the tour game I'd like all four quicks to play,” Clarke said.
“They all bowled beautifully. And both spinners bowled well. A couple of tough selections for us but a pretty place for the team to be at, I guess, if we've got dilemmas like that. Playing in Barbados, it’s a wicket that's generally suited more to three
fast bowlers, than your one front line spinner and then hopefully a couple of part-time spinners. I think later on in the game spin will still play a big part, definitely in this Test match and I think throughout the whole series.”
The itinerary began with a One Day International series, which was drawn 2-2 (one tied match) and followed by two T20 Internationals, which were also tied 1-1. Much to the disappointment of the Australians, who were eager to beat the Caribbean Kings, the
Windies came back strongly in every match and gave the tourists a tough fight.
The upcoming Test series is Australia’s last chance to clinch a series on this tour, and they will be going in with proper planning. Former skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 will also be present alongside Clarke, and his experience will be key in the 5-day format, the
first match of which will commence on April 7 in Barbados.
