Clarke yet to decide on Pune’s offer – Cricket News Update
After resisting the lucrative league for four seasons, the Australian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 is finally in talks with the Sahara based IPL franchise, the Pune Warriors.
The 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861. This was confirmed by Clarke on Sunday.
Speaking to media reporters on Sunday, the Australian skipper refused to reveal the details of the ongoing negotiations between the franchise and his management company. However, he did opine that the company was in discussions with Warriors on his behalf.
"That opportunity has been presented to my management company and me. Right now they're discussing it," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120.
"We will continue to talk about that and make a decision in due course. But my focus right now is to make sure I get back and play some good cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746," he added further.
The Aussie skipper has been resisting the money spinning Twenty20 league since its inception in 2008, to focus on his national duty. He did not forward his name for the players’ auction held in Bangalore on February 6, 2012. The franchise approached him
after seeking approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI).
Clarke, the right-handed middle order batsman took over as Australian captain in April last year from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
He will be back to take charge of the Aussies in the three-match Test series against the Caribbean side, starting at the Kensington Oval, Barbados from April 7.
Clarke, who retired from T20 cricket in January last year to focus on one-day and Test matches, left for the West Indies on Sunday. Even if he signs a deal with Pune, Clarke will not be available for the major part of the IPL due to his national commitments,
as the Test series against the West Indies ends on April 27.
When asked about his fitness, Clarke said: "It's been a busy couple of weeks of rehab and treatment with my physio.”
"I had a fitness test on Friday and I passed all of that,” he added further.
The fifth season of the money spinning Twenty20 league gets underway on April 4, 2012.
