Clarkeys Dream upsets Klockwork Kazia in 480m Grade A2 Heat at Hall Green on Jan 27
After a close contest, Clarkeys Dream upset Klockwork Kazia to win the 480 metre long Grade A2 Heat, held at Hall Green on Friday, January 27, 2012.
The two hounds ran neck to neck throughout the competition, but the luck turned in Clarkeys Dream’s favour at the final moment.
The back dog defeated Klockwork Kazia, by a short head’s margin, clocking the area in 29.28 seconds.
His starting price of 5 to 1 was relatively lower than Klockwork Kazia’s, who was the race favourite with the odds of 7 to 4.
However, Ballymac Kewell’s son out of Ballymac Diane performed like a champion, winning a cash prize of £122.
After her discharge from the stand, the runner-up b***h, Hondo Black’s daughter out of Go Princess, reached the post in 29.29 seconds.
While it was a nail-biting clash between the top-2, the rest of the hounds were well behind.
The third and fourth position respectively went to Arewetherenow, and Glenbower Boy – the two hounds with 7 to 2 betting odds, each.
The third placed dog, trained by J E Meek, completed his act in 29.73 seconds, 5 ½ lengths adrift of the runner-up.
Glenbower Boy, Droopys Scolari son out of Vidane Honey, made it to the wire in 29.83 seconds. The black dog was bumped and therefore, could not challenge the top-3.
The fifth position was secured by Winner Takes It, who was carrying the winning chances of 4 to 1. Since he was forced to check, it was very difficult for him to get a higher place on the table.
Cabra Cool’s son out of Amandas Josie crossed the wire in 29.95 seconds, 1 ½ lengths ahead of the back marker.
Mall Menlo occupied the last position in the list. His starting price of 5 to 1 was equal to the winning hound, however, he could not deliver as good as the eventual winner. After leaving the fifth stand, he took 30.07 seconds to wind up the party.
It was Clarkeys Dream’s third victory in a row. He is in a great rhythm at the moment, and a win against the race favourite would earn him a better starting price in the upcoming heats.
