Clary, Van Swol and Ingram dominate in Mission Viejo - Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions
Tyler Clary, Kyler Van Swol and Melissa Ingram dominated their respective events in the last session on day four of the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions, held at Mission Viejo, California, on June 26, 2011.
Clary came out strongly and nabbed the Men’s 200m Individual Medley title with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 01.14 seconds. Unfortunately, he was not able to beat his previous record of 2 minutes and 01.37 seconds, which he set in 2010.
Robert Margalis secured the second spot in the corresponding race with a time of 2 minutes and 02.17 seconds. Sean Mathews of Wild rounded out the top three with a time of 2 minutes and 04.75 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m butterfly meet, Kyler Van Swol of Minnesota snared the golden crown with a victorious time of 54.02 seconds. Dominik Meichtry of Trojan wound up second in 54.27 seconds, whereas, Kurt Bassett of New Zealand claimed the bronze title in a time of 55.02 seconds.
Octavio Alesi captured the first spot in the Men’s 100m butterfly B final with a time of 54.63 seconds.
The Women’s 100m back-stroke title was clinched by Melissa Ingram of New Zealand with a time of 1 minute and 02.10 seconds. Placed second in the following meet was Genevieve Cantin of Canada, with a time of 1 minute and 03.28 seconds. Katy Murdoch rounded out the top three with a time of 1 minute and 03.35 seconds.
Earlier in the event, Sutton won the Women’s 1500m freestyle crown with a triumphant time of 16 minutes and 12.73 seconds, while Plummer took home the Men’s 100m back-stroke title with a time of 54.19 seconds.
Klueh snagged the Men’s 800m freestyle title with a time of 7 minutes and 56.59 seconds, whereas, Jessica Hardy earned gold in the Women’s 100m butterfly with a time of 59.32 seconds.
Kitajima nabbed the Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown with a time of 1 minute and 01.01 seconds, whereas, Hoff clinched the Women’s 200m Individual Medley title in a time of 2 minutes and 11.33 seconds.
