Clary Scott clinches Men’s 200m back-stroke crown in Minneapolis: 2011 USA Swimming Grand Prix
Clary Scott of Fast Swimming Team continued to impress the arena on day three of the 2011 USA Swimming Grand Prix in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Sunday, November 13. Scott grabbed Men’s 200m back-stroke title, while Franklin notched Women’s 200m back-stroke
title.
Fast Swim Team’s Clary Scott was up against DSV’s Diener Christian and IRNT’s Nimrod Bar-Or, as Scott got off to a strong start in the pool and banged the finishing divider in a thrilling time of 1 minute and 58.39 seconds to win the Men’s 200m back-stroke
title over his rivals. After the race, Diener pocketed silver medal in a winning mark of 2 minutes and 00.76 seconds and Nimrod earned bronze title in a spot of 2 minutes and 00.78 seconds, respectively.
In the meantime, Vyatchanin Arkady claimed fourth spot by clicking the finishing divider in a time of 2 minutes and 01.33 seconds and Newenhouse Carl of Minnesota settled at fifth place in a time of 2 minutes and 04.66 seconds. In addition, Samuilich Yuri
grabbed sixth position by knocking the finishing fence in a blot of 2 minutes and 04.83 seconds.
Ress Eric of Una Scsc was placed seventh in a mark of 2 minutes and 05.99 seconds. Finally, the eighth position went to Kamiya Ryutaro of University of Michigan in a time of 2 minutes and 07.19 seconds.
In the Women’s 200m back-stroke final heat, Missy Franklin of United States of America topped the entire match against her challengers by thrashing the finishing blockade in a winning time of 2 minutes and 08.03 seconds to claim the golden crown. More importantly,
Franklin claimed three gold medals in 200m back-stroke, 4x200 freestyle and 4x100m medley events at the 2011 World Championships edition, in Shanghai.
Meanwhile, the silver title was taken over by Lauren Lavigna in an impressive time of 2 minutes and 12.85 seconds and Stephanie Proud of Gator earned bronze title in a mark of 2 minutes and 12.87 seconds, respectively. Additionally, Point-Claire's Samantha
Cheverton gave her best attempt in the swimming puddle and notched fourth place by claiming the finishing blockade in a time of 2 minutes and 14.11 seconds.
Furthermore, Minnesota's Tess Behrens continued to impress the arena with her versatile turns and earned fifth place honours by clicking the finishing wall in a mark of 2 minutes and 14.53 seconds. Mission Aurora's Bonnie Brandon got sixth position in the
respective race in a time of 2 minutes and 14.66 seconds and Minnesota's Katie Anton earned seventh spot by clicking the finishing cordon in a spot of 2 minutes and 17.43 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the eighth position was secured by France's Laure Manaudou in a time of 2 minutes and 21.64 seconds.
