Clash of Super XV Heavy Weights in the offing – Rugby news
Everywhere and in everything there are rankings which reflects who leads in that particular things and then those who are trailing. The whole affair becomes very interesting when the second best are competing with the best to prove a point a two.
The scores is settled in different ways and in sports the best of the top two is decided not on numbers, past records, past scores, past titles or the players portfolios, rather its decided on field with the both contenders contest with each other to determine
who is the best. The beauty of the whole contest is that, masses can see the tangible effort from the both decide and can determine for themselves who is the best. Mostly, they do not have to do so as the results spoke for themselves.
Coming Saturday, we have a similar sort of contest, when the top two teams so far in the Super XV will be playing with each other, as the hosts Stormers currently placed at number one will take on the Visitor’ from Australia; Reds who are currently second
in the combined ranking at Newlands Rugby Stadium, Cape town.
Fierce on-field battled is expected, as the Stormers will want to continue their unbeaten run while the Reds will be thriving to deliver what other teams in the season so far have failed to delivered.
Both players have the game changers that can take the game away from the opposition and at the same time both teams occasionally have struggled with their defence in their recent game. Stormers will be varying of the fact that they lost to Reds in their
last encounter during the 2010. Then it was Reds hosting the Stormers, with Stormers leading the game at the half time before conceding the game during the second half by 16 – 13.
Stormers definitely would be eyeing on returning one back to the Reds in front of the Newlands crowd but Reds are very difficult opposition. Reds main strength is the combination of experience and players techniques.
While Stormers will be confident of their progress in the season so far, Reds on the other hand might feel little subdued as they really have been strongly challenged. Although they have lost to Waratahs during their second round encounter in Super XV, thereafter
they really have not been challenged strongly something that the Stormers have enjoyed during their first six games.
However, Stormers are yet to be physically challenged on field and particularly they have played with single Australian Conference team Western Force. Reds offer a very different sort of opposition as when it comes to playing the hard physical game. Reds
renowned as the “Rough Boys of Australian Rugby” will go hard to whatever the Stormers play; be it structured rugby or unstructured Rugby Reds will come hard and they have the players to do so.
A fine line separates both teams and draw is more likely on card as both teams have defended exceptionally in their earlier game. Yet Stormers playing on their home turf have a slight advantage to win the game by a margin of 3-6 points if Reds did not injure
any of their key players. Whatever the outcome Heavy Weight clash have always brought something special for the fans.
