Clash of darts titans won by Keith Deller
Apart from the excitement that McCoy Premier League is offering to its audience, it was Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool that further enhanced this feel of enticement.
The line-up of Clash of darts titans might have included the reigning champion Adrian Lewis, but the trophy was grabbed by the 1983 champion Keith Deller.
The exhibitioner event was held to raise money for the formation of Suranna’s Stepping Stone Foundation.
Till the end of the event, up to 50,000 pounds were accumulated for the humanitarian cause.
The line-up of players who attended the event included Adrian Lewis, who is currently testing his skills of darts at Exeter.
He travelled especially from the place to Liverpool in order to become a part of the cause.
He was also accompanied with other players such as Australian darts player Paul Nicholson, Wes Newton, former world number 1 Colin Lloyd, One Dart Peter Manley, PDPA professional darts player Alan Warriner-Little and TV spotter Chris Mason.
The players were also joined by manager Deller. The first encounter took place between Paul Nicholson battling it out against Peter Manley.
Nicholson was able to maintain his high level of darts practice and skill to outclass his opponent. With the help of this match, he was able to land in the finale of the event.
The first shock of the evening came in the form of Wes Newton battling it out against manager Deller.
With Deller ending as the winner of the game, it was unexpectedly Newton who had to make way towards the exit.
The next big shock came when champion Adrian Lewis faced defeat against Chris Mason. Like Premier League, Lewis once again failed to bewitch his opponent with the magical spell of his jackpot.
The beginning of the semi-finals saw Nicholson gaining easy access to reach into the final against Colin Lloyd.
With Deller defeating Mason, it was Deller and Nicholson who met on the oche to battle it out against each other.
The finale was once again a shock as the manager and the former darts champion of the 80's was once again able to manifest his dominion status in darts by outclassing Nicholson in the finale, finally lifting the trophy.
In their post comments match, all the players expressed that the event is a perfect platform to allow former players to stay in touch with the sport.
