Clash of the Titans seems Epic
Today is the clash of the Titans. That’s right, the T20 defending champion are facing the ODI champions Australia; one team renowned for their ‘Unpredictability’ and the others famous for being the ‘Classic Kangaroos’. They will battle it out at the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. This encounter shouldn’t be missed, whether there are storms or tornadoes. Talking about the weather it is forecasted that there will be rain at the event today. People in Australia and Pakistan will be praying that it doesn’t wash away the battlefield for too long.
St. Lucia is situated near the equator and enjoys hot tropical weather all round the year. It’s a place that God perfectly designed with a panoramic view of beaches to sights of lush green vegetation. The annual average temperature for the region sits at a comfortable 27°C or between 70° and 90°F. The humidity of course is intense at times ranging from 65% to 95%. Meanwhile the temperatures in the summers range from 75°F to 95° F. It doesn’t go much lower than that in the winter too, varying around 67°F to 87°F.
The Caribbean Island consistently has tropical rains. Prior to the match, there are clouds witnessed at a range of 550m and 1100 m and it’s predicted that it will rain at around 8:00 am local time. There might be two lashes of rain but the crowd is hopeful that it won’t hurt the match a lot. The temperature at the moment is around 25° C but it will rise a bit as the day progresses.
Being situated at one of the Windward Islands, St. Lucia witnesses’ convectional current in the evening and the morning but there is slight wind at all times. The hottest months for the region come in June and carry on till September. The winter in December is the coolest and driest but despite all the heat, the weather is pleasant. In summers, the rain is intense with flash floods coming up surprisingly unannounced. The average annual rainfall received by the island is about 152cm.
It’s expected that there will be two bursts of rain today. If that is the case, the team winning the toss will have a bit of an advantage. The reason is simple - it’s hard to bat on a wet pitch as the ball will swing. But as the field is wet too, the ball will be hard to grip, will be faster in the field and come on to the bat more evenly.
This might be the situation but as the day progresses, the pitch will get drier and easier to bat on. In the evenings, there are winds from the sea and a higher probability for the ball to swing. That eventually leads to an equal batting and bowling approach. Now the wiser decision from the captain would be to choose in respect to a preview of his team. Look at their abilities and then decide.
