The Eoghan O’Grady-trained bay gelding is on the verge of a hat-trick that he will strive to complete by finishing first in today’s sterling showdown.
For the prize cheque of €6,900, the maverick horse will confidently show his guts against 23 competitors including One In A Milan, Doctor Henry, Cnoc Seoda, Gimli´s Return, The Amarillo Kid, Tabhachtach, Sean Airgead, Tell Dawstown, Murchu, Noble Pageant,
Andre Mon Ami, Credit Box, Duomo Di Milano, The Lady Granuaile, Viaduct Joey, Courtncatcher, Feabhra, Firebird Flyer, Moneyteigue Lad, Sorted, Abarta and Clooney Eile.
The high-profile race over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs is scheduled to commence at 6:50 (GMT).
Clashnabrook has been enjoying great form for the last five months. The seven-year-old young sprinter excellently grabbed a top spot and a third in December 2011.
The brilliant sprinter moved ahead to win two races in a row during the first half of February. He was 5-2 favourite for his last outing.
As a whole, the hot favourite horse has won 3 out of his total 10 starts to date, earning £15,253 as prize money. At the moment, he is carrying a lot of confidence and fighting spirit which, if he manages to capitalise on properly, will help him thrive today.
His chances to finish first will be as high as 95 percent.
Doctor Henry and One In A Milan are strong enough to trigger upsets in the race.
Doctor Henry finished first each in the first and last races of his career. Kieran Purcell’s trainee staged his debut on March 7, 2010 and ran last on April 8, 2012. He also has a runner-up rank to his name. He has run for 6 times to date.
One In A Milan broke his maiden on November 12, 2011. Robert Tyner’s bay gelding went ahead to finish 2nd and 3rd in his last two races. He has participated in 10 races to date.
Come what may, success seems to be leaning towards Clashnabrook. However, Doctor Henry can give him fairly tough time. Let us enjoy an amazing action at Cork. Good luck to all the contestants.
