Class Assignment!?

Question

So I am taking my adult class of students to the grocery store tonight. I need to think of some sort of assignment to give them! Does anyone have any clever ideas?

I have thought of a few things but nothing that is knocking my socks off!

They are in the age range of teens to adults and it is an English class!

why would you take them to a grocery store for english class? take them to a chinese resturant and tell them to teach the chinese people to say english words, thatl be fun

Perhaps you could have each of them prepare a shopping list in English for a special meal they would like to prepare.  Then go to the store and see how much each item would be and cost the special event,  again using English as the language, so that you cover numbers as well.

Hope all goes well - it sounds enterprising.

I agree with the previous answer.  My college home economics class went to the supermarket.  We had to items for a recipe, keep track of prices, etc.  Many students have no idea how much a loaf of bread costs, etc.
