Class Included getting class relief in the Bayakoa Handicap
Trained by Jim Penney, Class Included, had a tough trip in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic at Santa Anita Park on 2 November, 2012, when she was sent as the 38 to 1 longshot, and ended seventh on the day in a tough field going 1 1/8 miles.
It was a big jump for Class Included in terms of distance, as the Emerald Downs based filly had only two starts prior to the Ladies’ Classic, and both were run over a distance of 6 furlongs.
However, Amy Feuerborn and Michael Feuerborn owned filly will get class relief in the Grade 2, $200,000 Bayakoa Handicap Presented by Oak Tree Racing Association. She will be cut back to 1 1/16 miles instead of 1 1/8 miles and will switch surfaces as well, as she the Bayakoa Handicap will be run over Hollywood Park’s cushion track on 8 December, 2012.
The 4-year-old filly by Include, Class Included failed to defeat maidens in her debut race, the Maiden Special Weight at Emeralds Down on 14 August, 2010, going over a distance of 6 furlongs.
Ridden by jockey Juan Gutierrez, Class Included finished second to filly Kids Kooler, who wrapped up six furlongs in 1 minute and 10.40 seconds, as Lady Golightly finished third on the day.
Out of Sky Classic mare A Classic Life, Class Included won her first race in her second start, also at Emeralds Down going 6 furlongs in an allowance race under Juan Gutierrez, Class Included defeated Tiger’s Mistress in second and Zolazane in third with the winning time of 1 minute and 10.80 seconds on 6 September, 2012.
In the 1 1/16 mile Bayakoa Handicap, Class Included will be going against a tough field, as the 2011 winner of the Queen’s Plate, Inglorious, will be making a comeback off of a layoff, and the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks winner, Willa B Awesome.
However, this time Class Included will be able to avoid the likes of Royal Delta and My Miss Aurelia, who were the top two finishers of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic, as Include Me Out finished third.
