  1. No. They do it by floors and rooms. (It's more discreet)

    On NCL we boarded the ship on a totally different ramp for our room,  where the people in the lower floors with only a window or inside cabin were loaded. I thought that was odd.

    I noticed when we were on Royal Caribbean that the resturant seating was also done by floor and room types.

    I guess they figured if you can afford a suite, what kind of a conversation would you have with someone in an interior stateroom with bunk beds.

    We didn't really like that as we want to meet all kinds of cool people from all walks of life and shoving us at a table with a bunch of stuft shirts was borrrrrrrrrrrrring!

  2. No, not any more. Its one class rule all over the world. Some cruise lines will have different reasturants for theyre suit travellers thou. And you could also except better service if you book a suite. There is also some cls that has special rooms for for theyre repetative guests and or suite guests. And if youre travelling with a top notch ship youre among a selected few. But generally one ship one class aply. Johan

  3. NO they do not do that.  I have been on about 20 cruises on 4 different cruise lines and it's the same on all of them.  The cruise lines sell cruises based solely on the type of cabin you want.

    There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;

    - inside (no window),

    - outside (a window or porthole),

    - balcony/veranda, and

    - suites.

    Once you get on ship the ONLY difference between passengers is the type cabin they selected.  Everyone goes to the same dining rooms, the same shows, and can use all of the facilities like the gymnasium, sauna, pools and hot tubs.  The only exception to this is some ships have exclusive penthouse suites that have their own pool and hot tub and lounge areas exclusively for the few people who occupy the penthouse.  I sailed on a Norwegian cruise line ship, The NCL's Gem, which had such an area.  But this was for a very small number of people who paid a lot of money to have some privacy.

    In addition, back when the Titanic sailed ships had inside and outside cabins (as mentioned above) and maybe it had some suites.  But it did not have balcony/verandah cabins and ships these days often have more balcony cabins than inside.

    But there is no passenger sorting; you go up the gangway and go everywhere on the ship that you want to.

  4. My husband and I cruise on Norwegian.  It depends on why type of cabin you buy.  We go with the more affordable cabins (we were on the 4th deck).  We actually prefer to not have windows, because we get better sleep.  Also, our service was awesome!  We were treated exceptionally well.  :)
