Class performance tomorrow I think (really nervous)?

Ok so I've got this class perfrmance (tomorrow I think) where me and my mate act out this 2 minuite scene from a book. I'm really nervous even though it'll not last long and everyone's doing it.

How can I stop these nerves and grow my confidence?

Can you make me feel better and secure?

I'm a classical pianist, and I've performed all over the world.  Honestly, you never completely get over the nerves, but I've learned to deal with it effectively.  First, remember that everyone in the audience really wants to see you do well...not the other way around.  If you do your best, even if there is a slight mishap, most people are very forgiving, especially when they know they are going to be in the same position eventually.  For me, I always get the jitters until I play those first few notes.  Then the nerves disappear because I begin to focus on the music, rather than myself.  I think if you focus on your partner and the dialogue between you, rather than your nerves, the audience will soon disappear from your mind.  I also found that if I smiled at the audience before beginning to play my piece of music, I felt less nervous on stage, and the audience responded much better, no matter what happened.


  2. Nerves will pass and once you get out there the adrenelin kicks in and you forget about being nervous. Somethings can help.

    1.  know your lines...get your lines off and the rest is easy

    2. focus on the character and that will help you with your lines

    3. concentrating on the character will also help push the audience to the back of your mind

    4. though it is easier said than done you need to relax. Before performing (and that includes even your classroom performance). Before steping out focus on your breathing. Close your eyes and concentrate on the air filling your lungs, feel your chest rising and falling; breath deep into your abdomen pushing the diaphram down (the diaphram is a mussel at the base of your lungs) and then let the breath out slowly and repeat.   3. I thought I had stage fright, but ended up not. I had to do Think of Me by myself from Phantom of the Opera a little while back at my concert, and once you actually start doing things, it goes away, if you're made to perform. Practice in front of your family members and friends, and that may release some pre-stage jitters you have.

  4. Just think about other things like if pigs could fly, a pet, I am the best actor/actress ever, no matter what try keeping your mind off it and remember the lines
