In college what classes do you need to take to become a nurse?

  1. It differs with schools but for mine we needed a year of chemistry, anatomy & physiology and microbiology (for all nursing programs). You need at least one semester of Math and sometimes a psychology class. These are all taken before the professional phase. You then are required to take a prenursing exam, usually the NLN pre-nursing exam, Hesi something like that. Then in the professional phase you take general nursing classes, clinical rotation classes in psychiatry, mother-baby, pediatrics and adult nursing. You also take lab classes that show you how to administer needles, IV, take blood pressure ect.
