I am looking to buy a nylon string classical guitar with a single cutaway for around $400. I am a pretty experienced player and have just started getting into classical guitar in the last year, but have no idea where to start with classical guitars. I don't need any general information on guitars and guitar playing, just specifics on what guitar would be the best for my money. Thanks!

  1. you obviously have the Internet at your disposal,so why not research this yourself?

  2. It's a matter of taste. I love apple pie and you like raisin pie. Both are sweet and good to the taste.

For that price, consider looking into Yamaha. I do a lot of studio work with a $90 Yamaha for nylon work. I do have top notch guitar but Hey !!!!, that guitar has a good action, good sound and STAYS IN TUNE.

Having said this, I repair a lot of top notch guitar and rarely get Yamaha in for repairs. What cani say. What i can in are top notch guitars since I repair and build them.

Takamine also make an awesome guitar. The finish , the playability and the true sound of wood is whhat you can expect out of any Takamine guitar. Also, my good friend makes Jean Larivee makes an incredible guitars.

Here is the link and feast your eyes.

  3. AC is on the right page but don't buy on line. shop there.

then find a guitar shop that deals that manufacture,

my Ibanez guy sold me right on my PF and with a $400 dollar budget I'm sure he'd set you up something nice.

my Alverez guy showed me a nice ax in that $ range but I bought the Guild cause I had the money!!!!!  Sweet!!!!!

  4. The Yamaha CG-171-xx series is in that price range and it's a nice guitar.  I almost bought one a few months ago and specifically went into the music store to BUY one... and then played a Taylor NS34CE and that made the Yamaha sound like a child's toy... so I walked out with the Taylor... for about $1000 more than the Yamaha.
