Classification semi-finals of FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship ready to start
The classification semi-finals of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championship will shortly commence in Peru. The cities that are playing host to the matches today, July 30th, are Lima and Callao.
The gold-medal bracket of the round includes four top teams. Among them are the Brazilians that have yet to lose a match in the tournament. Brazil has the credit of being the only team that has not lost a single match so far. They will be looking to keep
that record intact until the very end. The other three teams that accompany Brazil in the prestigious slot are Italy, China and United States.
The Italians and the Chinese will compete against each other first after which the Brazilians are lined up against the United States. The venue for the contest is scheduled to be the Eduardo Dibos Gymnasium in Lima.
On the other hand, the Slovakian team will be matched up with the Dominican Republic whereas the host team of Peru will be competing with Belgium. These matches will be a part of the 5-8 classification semi-finals. Both the Dominican Republic as well as
Belgium secured the third slot in their respective pools E and F. On the other hand, the Peruvians and the Slovakian team stood fourth in their pools during the first round of the tournament.
Apart from the gold-medal bracket and the 5-8 classifications, there are two other slots in which the matches will be played. These are the 9-12 and the 13-16 classification semi-finals. Cuba and Poland will compete with each other in the 9-12 classification
after which the Japanese will be matched up with the Russians. These matches will take place in the city of Callao at the Miguel Grau Gymnasium.
Tunisia and Serbia will be seen playing against each other in Callao as well during the 13-16 classifications. After these two teams have finished play, the Koreans and the Egyptians will take centre stage.
These medal rounds and the play-offs will take the whole of today and last until tomorrow. The match to decide the first and the second position will be held on the 31st July.
