  1. You're asking 2 questions for the price of one!  And your first one is a bit broad don't you think?

    What do you want the classifications to be based on>>>

    • size

    • profitability / greatest ROI

    • highest / lowest markup in $ or %

    • loss leaders to bring customers in

    • highest / lowest merchandise turnover

    • expense of operation

    The qualities of a good sales person would be things like>>

    • knowing how to be helpful, but not intrusive

    • being able to suggest additional items that would complement the item

    • the ability to suggest suitable alternatives if you don't have what a customer is seeking  > the one I remember is when the sales lady told me the item never goes on sale, when I inquired when I could get a better price on some Waterford crystal wine glasses.  Had she really been helpful, which she was not, she would've said, "But I can offer you 20% discount if you open up a charge account with us today."  

    • Being friendly, but realizing you're not their friend.
