Claude Julien’s experience helping Boston Bruins make run for second championship – NHL news
Winning the Stanley Cup back in 2011 has certainly shown Claude Julien a whole different world on how he should manage his team.
The Boston Bruins proved just how excellent Claude Julien’s game strategy was as they fired back at the Chicago Blackhawks and took them down in a major 2-0 shutout.
“With a coach that has the confidence in you, you feel like you want to do something for it, you want to deserve it,” Daniel Paille said. “We've been able to do that the last couple of games.”
A little change around was seen in Game 2 as Julien moved around the third line, which consists of Chris Kelly, Daniel Paille and Tyler Seguin. Game 1 was a disappointment for the Bruins as they lost to Chicago in a triple overtime contest. Game 2 appeared
to have a stronger output from the Boston team as they took it at Chicago and levelled the series. The next matchup was a strong show from the Bruins by shutting out Chicago at every level.
“I think we're just putting pucks on net and reading plays,” Paille added. “I think we're managing the puck better. On my goal [Monday night], you saw [Kelly] go in and then I went in and then I shot. We're not giving them enough time to think with the puck
and then we're able to get it.”
Putting pressure on the opposing goalie while vesting their trust in Tuukka Rask to handle their own net has given the Boston Bruins maximum time to take their chances on Chicago’s goal.
“I think the goalie hasn't had time to react to it,” Paille said. “That helps.”
Another aspect that Tyler Seguin sees as being affective is the fact that there is no set game plan that will be in effect throughout the game. He termed coach Julien to be calling “big-time calls” throughout the game, before, during and even after it to
make as much changes according to the moment.
Game 4 will definitely be one to watch between the Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks. It is scheduled for Wednesday in Boston at 8 PM ET.
