After much anticipation, Carlo Ancelotti was finally named the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain. A lot would be expected from the Italian tactician who twice won the UEFA Champions League as the manager of Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.
However, in a bold decision, sporting director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 and Ancelotti have given the vacant assistant coach role to Claude Makelele who hung his boots at the end of the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign with PSG.
The former Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man is considered to be one of the finest players France ever produced and was also considered as a replacement for the now-sacked Antoine Kombouare. However, Leonardo has chosen to appoint the former defensive midfielder
as the new assistant coach instead.
This is certainly a bold yet good decision made by Leonardo. Claude Makelele is a revered figure in Paris and is respected by players.
While talking at the unveiling ceremony, Ancelotti spoke about his coaching team that would help him throughout the remainder of the campaign.

We decided to use the experience of Makelele as an assistant. He is a former great player who can give us the benefit of his qualities,

However, Ancelotti ruled out any possibilities of him linking up with Ray Wilkins. The former Chelsea and Manchester United player was Ancelotti’s assistant two seasons back. However, the Englishman was relieved of his duties under mysterious circumstances
back in December 2010. The Englishman’s contract was not renewed.
However, Ancelotti said that there are still vacancies to be filled. Moreover, Ancelotti has said that he will keep the goalkeeping coach and other physical trainers at the club.
