OGC Nice put in one of their best performances of the season against Les Gones last night, and successfully brushed aside a less than impressive Lyon side at Stade Municipal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Ray.
Les Gym were really impressive in their Coupe de la Ligue win over Olympique Lyonnais and coach, Claude Puel, is more than pleased with the victory. While talking to reporters, the former Monaco coach stated that the conditions were not suitable to play
last night and his side deserve credit for playing with a positive attitude.
The coach added that because of the heavy rain prior to the kick-off, it was really difficult to play on a heavy pitch.
"We were very concentrated in every phase of the game even though the heavy pitch last night (because of the rain) was exhausting to play on.”
Praising his side’s performance against Lyon, the coach said that it was a great and professional performance from his side and it won’t be wrong to say that it was Nice’s best performance of the season.
“Without a doubt it was our most consistent performance of the season so far,” the 51-year-old told reporters.
OGC Nice have been struggling in the Ligue 1 this season with just 9 points on the table after 10 games. And Puel feels that his side’s inconsistency has cost them in the league.
However, the 51-year-old is hoping that Wednesday’s victory will kick-start their season and has urged the players to continue playing like they did last night at Stade Municipal du Ray.
“In the league, we've often turned in good performances only to spoil them at the end, but tonight we went the full 90 minutes with the discipline that could have helped us avoid so many league disappointments.”
The former Lille coach said that Nice played a great game of football last night and they deserved to win, and everyone at the club is pleased with the victory.
